Salvatore Di Lorenzo was born in Palermo in March 2003. Since October 2021, he is attending the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin under guidance of Professor Kolja Blacher.
Between 2017 and 2021 he attended the Yehudi Menuhin School, in Prof. Akiko Ono’s class. Already at 13 years old, he attended the academic course of the Scarlatti Conservatoire of Palermo.
Recent accomplishments include his recognition as a finalist in the Vth Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition, with renowned violinist Mr. Shlomo Mintz as head of the jury. Furthermore, he attended the prestigious Villars Music Academy 2024, following a pre-selection by members of the Berlin Philharmonic.
He is extensively involved in New Music, both as soloist and as chamber musician: he plays in the Sonar Quartett and in the Boulez Ensemble Berlin. He has been requested as a soloist by Edition Juliane Klein. Furthermore, he was commissioned to compose his own First Violin Concerto, which he will premiere as a soloist in June 2025, with the Strings Unlimited Orchestra Bremen.
As a soloist, in Italy, he has been invited by the Associazione Siciliana Amici della Musica, the Deutsche Akademie Villa Massimo in Rome, and the Associazione Kaleidos Natale Patti, which awards him the Kaleidos Award in January 2025. Furthermore, in Berlin he was featured in Sonarloft concerts, 74st Berlinale Film Festival, Intersecting Encounters, Klangwerkstatt Festival Berlin, the Musethica International and the Hanns Eisler Chamber Music Festival among others.
In England he also performed in locations such as the King’s Place, the Menuhin Circle, the Menuhin Hall, the Wimbledon Festival, and in Europe in the Berlin Philarmonie, Konzerthaus and Boulez Saal, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Kühlhaus Berlin and Kunstpunkt Berlin among other venues.
He was a bursar at the Karl Flesch Academy 2022 and furthermore attended for several years, both as “stageur” and as student, the Xenia Chamber Music Course, based in Italy.
He won the 1st Prize at the Maria Elisa Di Fatta Competition in Cefalù, Music Competition AMIGDALA Giuseppe Raciti Awards in Aci Bonaccorsi, National Music Competition of the Mandanici in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Amici della Musica B. Albanese National Competition in Caccamo (in three editions in a row), International Musical Competition Musica al museo in Caltanissetta, National Competition E. Sollima in Enna. Furthermore he was semi-finalist with special prize at the 41st International Violin Competition Rodolfo Lipizer Prize.
Key scholarships to support his studies in the UK were granted by the Music and Dance Scheme, as well as private donors. In Germany he is a scholarship holder of the Deutschland Stipendium. In 2021 he received offers of study with scholarship at the Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music in London, Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia in Madrid, University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin.
