Amira Abouzahra was born in December 2005 and has chosen the violin as her instrument when she was four. Her teachers were Alexander Gawrilenko, Gábor Homoki and Eszter Haffner. Since 2019 she is a student of Prof. Dora Schwarzberg’s violin class at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She made her orchestra debut at the age of seven playing Vivaldis Violin concerto “Spring” with the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, Amira has performed with orchestras such as Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Concerto Budapest, Kremerata Baltica, Tschaikowsky Symphony Orchestra, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, RSO Wien, Hungarian Radio Orchestra, Budapest String Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra Győr, Opera Orchestra Budapest, MÁV Symphony Orchestra and many others. She has performed at numerous venues worldwide, such as Lincoln Center New York, Philharmonie Berlin, Musikverein Vienna, NCPA Beijing, Cairo Opera House, Covent Garden London, Concert House Aarhus, Royal Opera House Muscat, Alexandria Opera House, Palace of Arts Budapest, Budapest Music Center, Expo Milano, Old Parliament House Singapore, Europe Palace Strasbourg and the Pearl Tower Shanghai. Concert engagements brought her to England, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Egypt, Oman, Libanon, China, Singapore, Mexico,USA, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Denmark, Austria, Romania, Liechtenstein, Dubai and she has been invited to perform in numerous festivals like Festival Academy Budapest, as ‘Artist of Promise’ in the Verbier Festival, IMS Prussa Cove, Golden violins of Odessa Festival, György Cziffra Festival, Operalia Gala by Plácido Domingo, Chieti Classica, Isa Semmering, Kaposfest Hungary, Budapest Fest Shanghai, InspirArt Budapest, Abu Dhabi Festival, Muscat Chamber Music Series and Mozart Day - Concerto Budapest.
Amira was awarded: 1st Prize at the A. Grumiaux International Violin Competition (Belgium, 2020); 1st Prize at the International Ilona Fehér Violin Competition in Hungary (2017); 1st Prize and special prize at the international instrumental and vocal performance contest Oradea 2021; 1st Prize (age group winner) in Hungary´s Classical Music Talent Show Virtuosos where she also received the special prize of the F. Liszt Chamber Orchestra (2017); 1st Prize at the competition “Jugend musiziert” in Germany (2013 and 2016); in 2020 at the international television competition Virtuosos V4+Amira was awarded the Silver Medal and the Audience Prize; Gold star at the Stars and Awards Competition 2021; Kodály Award and string soloist award in isa Semmering (2021,2022); Laureate of the Fritz Kreisler Competition; Career Grant award of the Charlotte White foundation New York (2022); Talent award of the Cziffra György Festival (2024)
She performed in concerts with artists such as Zubin Mehta, Mikhail Pletnev, Christoph Eschenbach, Placido Domingo, Vladimir Jurowski, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, István Várdai, Csaba Péter, Maxim Rysanov, Máté Szűcs, András Keller, Kristóf Baráti, Boris Brovtsyn and participated in master classes with scholarship by Maxim Vengerov, Shlomo Mintz, Christian Tetzlaff, Kristóf Baráti, Vilde Frang, Julian Rachlin, András Keller, Gerhard Schulz, Barnabás Kelemen, István Várdai, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Claudio Martinez-Mehner, Dénes Várjon, Kirill Troussov, Alexandra Conunova, Guy Braunstein, Augustin Dumay and Midori.
Amira was a scholar of the Domhof Foundation and is a member artist of Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now and the Career Advancement Program of the Günther-Caspar Foundation aswell as a scholarship holder of the Liechtenstein Academy.
Together with her sister Mariam, Amira recorded all works for 2 violins by Hungarian contemporary composer Sándor Szokolay for the Szokolay Foundation.
