Cécile Vonderwahl, born in Switzerland in 1998, received her first violin lessons when she was just under six years old. She was later taught by Eiko Furusawa at the Winterthur Conservatory and by Prof. Zakhar Bron at the Zakhar Bron Academy Interlaken.
In 2014, she began her undergraduate studies at the Zurich University of the Arts with Andreas Janke and, after completing her high school diploma in 2016, she began her bachelor's degree, which she completed with honors in 2019. This was followed by further studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg in the class of Pierre Amoyal and at the Hanns Eisler University of Music Berlin with Prof. Stephan Picard. She attended master classes with Zakhar Bron, Igor Ozim, Kurt Sassmannshaus, György Pauk, Pavel Vernikov, Pierre Amoyal, Rainer Schmidt and Julia Fischer, among others.
Cécile is a winner of various national and international competitions, including first prizes at the Swiss Youth Music Competition, the Zurich Music Competition and the Kiwanis Chamber Music Competition Zurich (string quartet), as well as the second prize and the special prize for the best interpretation of the compulsory piece on the Kocian Violin
Competition in the Czech Republic and second prize at the Valiant Forum soloist competition Murten Classics. She was a finalist at the “Andrea Postacchini” International Violin Competition and a semifinalist at the International Johannes Brahms Competition and the Concours International de Violon Tibor Varga. She is also a prize winner at the Radolfzell International Summer Academy and the Uttwil Master Classes.
Cécile regularly plays as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Musikkollegium Winterthur, Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester Mannheim, Südwestdeutsche Philharmoni Konstanz, and also gives concerts and recitals at home and abroad as a chamber and orchestra musician. These have taken her to festivals such as the Festival internacional de orquestas de jovenes de Alicante, Festival Interlaken Classics, Festival Kammermusik Bodensee, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, among others.
