17-year-old violinist Rebecca Beato began her violin lessons at 4 and currently studies with Viktor Basis at Special Music School at Kaufman Music Center in New York City. She has performed in the US and abroad, including Verizon Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Paul Recital Hall, Dimenna Center, Merkin Hall, The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s Calderwood Hall, and The Museo Del Violino in Cremona, Italy. Most Recently, Rebecca was selected as a Semi-Finalist at the 2024 Sphinx Competition for the second time following the 2022 Sphinx Competition as well as the 10th Louis Spohr International Music Competition in Germany 2022. She was awarded The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Young Scholars Award in 2019 and has appeared on NPR’s “From The Top” show 382. Rebecca has won top prizes in numerous national and international competitions including The New York Young
Performers Prize (2023), Long Island Conservatory Music Competition (2022), NY Classical Music Competition (2022), Rudolf Barshai International Strings Competition (2021), The NY Chamber Players Concerto Competition (2021), The Kaufman Music Center’s Concerto Competition (2020), VIVO International Music Competition(2018, 2019, 2020), New York Solo Competition (2019), IMKA International Music Competition (2018) and Cremona International Music Competition (2016). Additional accolades including Camerata Artist Concerto Competition (2021), Lyra Music Competition (2021) and Enkor International Competition (2019). One of her most memorable musical moments was winning the first prize in Cremona, at age 9, Rebecca had the privilege to perform at Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi and was invited to return to Italy to perform with the orchestra the following year. Since then, Rebecca has continued to make solo orchestral appearances with The Philadelphia Orchestra at Verizon Hall in 2023, The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony, The New York Chamber Players Orchestra, and The Kaufman Music Center’s concerto competition orchestra. She had the privilege of sharing the stage with Joshua Bell to perform Concerto in D minor for two violins at a benefit for the Special Music School at Kaufman Music Center. In addition to solo performances, Rebecca enjoys chamber music as she performed on numerous occasions in Quintet, Piano Trio, and String Quartet, as well as Duo with Charles Yang & Peter Dugan, Ensemble with Kronos Quartet, Harlem Quartet, and Curtis Stewart. Rebecca received masterclasses and lessons from Miriam Fried, Li Lin, Grigory Kalinovsky, Ilya Kaler, Ani Kavafian, Midori, Nicholas Kitchen, Soovin Kim, Masao Kawasaki, Collin Carr, Anna Rabinnova, Kelly Hall Tompkins, Karla Donahew Perez, Suliman Tekalli as well as The Balourdet Quartet and Charles Yang and Peter Dugan. Music festival participation includes Heifetz International Music Institute, Chamber Music Northwest Young Artist Institute, Sphinx Performance Academy, KMC’s String Fest, and Cremona Music Festival.
