Hannah Kim, age 16, resides in Sydney and is currently a student at Ravenswood School for Girls with a full music scholarship. She started the violin at the age of 5 with Lynn Byun and is currently under the tutelage of Mrs. Elisabeth Mitchelmore since 2016. Hannah participated at the masterclasses for the Violin Pedagogy Conference with Prof. Ole Bohm (Sydney Conservatorium of Music) and Prof. Evgeny Sorkim (Sydney Conservatorium of Music), playing Wieniawski Polonaise A major. In the past, Hannah has also regularly performed at Open Performance Classes led by Dr. Goetz Richter AM. In 2021, Hannah won 2 nd prize in Enkor International Music Competition (Violin), and also achieved 1 st prize in the Polish Music Competition, held in Melbourne, and completed her L.Mus.A (Distinction). In 2022, Hannah was awarded the Edna Wilde Instrumental Award in the Ryde Eisteddfod, as a result of her achievements in multiple other sections. Last year, she participated in the 2022 Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp and Youn Symphonists program, as the Associate Concertmaster. Hannah also participated in the 2022 ACO Academy. Hannah was the recipient of First Place in her age section and the overall winner of the Virtuoso Prize (Strings) in the New Talent British Festival Competition in 2022. This year, she achieved 3 rd prize in the Kendall National Violin Competition, held in Kendall NSW. She participated in both the 2023 Australian Youth Orchestra Autumn and Winter Season program, held in Perth, Sydney, and Canberra. Hannah was also invited to be a guest orchestral member in the Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra in Queensland, for their “Return of the Proms” event. She is the current Concertmaster of her school’s Symphony Orchestra and is a member of various chamber ensembles and choirs.
